Clairol Nice ‘N Easy Hair Colour Kit

I got the Clairol Nice ‘N Easy hair colour kit to try from BzzAgent. I picked the colour black because I like keeping my hair black. If they offered brownish red or dark purple I would pick it. I actually bought another one and used the dye on my mom’s hair because she had a bit more grey hair and she wanted to dye it. Before using it, I wasn’t sure if it would show much of a difference because it’s the same colour as her hair but it turns out to be much darker than her normal hair. Our opinions were pretty similar for the product.

The package came with 3 bottles, the color-blend formula, color-blend activator, and color sealing conditioning gloss. It uses the normal dye procedures, mix the first 2 bottles and use conditioner at the end. When I was putting the dye onto mom’s hair, I notice the smell isn’t too bad. I remember using other brands with a really bad smell. The conditioner smelled pretty nice too, kind of like coconut. In addition, the process can take up to an hour so make sure you have plenty of time. It took me around 45 minutes to put everything on mom’s hair and she waited another 25 minutes before washing it. My mom thought it took quite long because she uses this Japanese or Asian brand that only take 5 minutes to cover her greys.

After the wash and conditioner, the dye completely covers the grey hair on mom’s head and it was very black. Mom said her hair feels very soft and smooth after dying her hair. It’s not like other brands that make the hair really dry afterwards. Overall, mom was very happy with it.

I did take before and after photos but it was really hard to tell the difference from the picture due to lighting so I decided not to post it up.

It's Like Christmas

I requested these samples from P&G and SampleSource and both of them came on the same day. It does take them a while to come and people describe how when they all come it's like Christmas, getting all these gifts at once. I have uses some of the products before and some I have not used before but always wanted to try.

First picture were the products from SampleSource, I was kind of expecting larger samples and more coupons but I'm happy that I got something. Second picture were products from P&G, they had coupons that can be used at Target only. Very happy I got these samples and I have been using them.

Pantene Ultimate 10 Shampoo, Conditioner, and BB Crème

I got 3 full size Pantene products for free to try from BzzAgent. They were the Ultimate 10 shampoo, conditioner, and BB Crème.

My family and I always use Pantene, my family uses the “Smooth and Sleek” one and I use the clear kind (Aqualight, Volume, Ice Shine…) because my hair tends to get oily during the day. It seems like the clear shampoo makes my hair stay nice and clean longer. I don’t use conditioner because I think it makes my hair oily and I read somewhere that you shouldn’t use it if your hair is oily (not sure if it’s true or not).

Anyways, I have been using the Ultimate 10 shampoo and conditioner for awhile now and it’s actually pretty good. Before using it I thought it would make my hair oily but it didn’t. I can actually use conditioner on my hair without that oily look. It made my hair really smooth, shiny, and easy to comb through. I told my mom to try it and she said it’s not as smooth as the “smooth and sleek” shampoo/conditioner. That make sense or why would Pantene call that line “smooth and sleek”. Now I can use another line from Pantene without any problems.

I have straight hair that doesn’t need any styling or fixing, so I just wake up and go. That’s why I didn’t use the Ultimate 10 BB Crème much. I tried it a few times and it’s not bad. One pump is quite a lot already, well depends on how much hair you are going to style with. I used it on my bangs so that’s why it was a lot. The texture was a cream form. It had a strong fragrance which I didn’t like too much. When the crème dries on the hair, it feels a bit hard but not as hard as gel. At first, it made my bangs look a bit ew and oily but when it dries, that oily look was gone. It felt a bit heavy on the hair when it dried, always feels like something was on my bangs. It would be nice if it felt like nothing was in my hair at all. Overall, it’s not a bad product.

L'Oreal Paris Lash Serum

Getting bored at home so I decided to make a post on another product that I really like, L'Oreal Paris lash serum. I don't know if they still sell this product in Canada because I didn't see it at Superstore. I bought mine a long time ago and it lasts quite long. The price was reasonable, forgot how much but it was less than $10 or $20 (not as expensive as the other brands). Don't remember what the package says but something like it makes the lashes fuller and longer. The serum is like a gel that you put onto the roots and on the lashes itself as if you are putting mascara on. I usually put it on before bedtime and wash it off in the morning. If you put it before your mascara, it might feel a bit heavy.

I used to put mascara and curl lashes a lot and I realize my lashes would fall out and I have this gap. I searched around trying to find something that would help and I found this. At first, I thought hey lash growth, perfect for me (I have short lashes) but after using it for awhile the gap starts growing tiny lashes again. I'm not sure if it made my lashes grow longer because they always seem very short to me...

Now that I think my lashes looks ok, I only put serum on when I'm going to curl and use mascara the next day. I hope they didn't discontinue this because I would want to repurchase when I'm done with my 2nd one.

Supermoist Masks

I have been using a lot more masks lately because the HK actresses on this show said they put on moisturize masks every night to keep their skin nice. Supermoist is one of the brands that I started using, I use it about once a week and use other brands during the other days. I decided to talk about this one and not my other masks first because I love the packaging a lot. At first I was afraid to buy it because I didn't see reviews on the site and the packaging was a bit more kiddish than other brands but I decided to buy it and try. Each type of masks have a different look to it. I bought the package with 16 masks with a pink clutch bag. 2 pieces of masks for each kind.  The different functions from left to right, top to bottom are organic hops recovering, hibiscus toning, snail repairing, organic rose radiance, ginseng regenerating, oxygen antioxidant, rice germ conditioning, and tea tree treatment. The price was alright, $20.80 Canadian but sheet masks are usually around $1+ per piece, depending on the brand too. I just noticed this brand was created by Rick Chin, a makeup artist and hairstylist in HK/Asia.

Anyways, I have tried 3 of them so far, the hops, tea tree, and snail. The mask itself, I find it a bit larger than other brands like My Scheming that I have tried. I guess it's made that way incase if people have a large face? All 3 had a different smell to it (obviously). The most memorable one was tea tree because it had a strong smell. I have never smelled tea tree oil before so not sure what it smells like but I have this foot spray and it smells exactly the same with tea tree oil in it. It wasn't too bad and tea tree oil is actually good for you, especially if you have acne. The other 2 had a pretty good smell to it. The snail one had a familiar smell to it but i forgot what it was like. I'm not sure what benefit each has because it's written in Chinese and I don't know how to read it (can be a con for people that don't know Chinese). You can kind of tell what the benefits are by the names and ingredients I guess?

What I thought of it? I thought it was quite good, at least I didn't get any itchy, red bumps on my face after using it. I also use My Scheming masks and I get these red, itchy bumps on my face everytime. It goes away after 1-2 days but still pretty annoying. Maybe they have ingredients that my face doesn't like? After using Supermoist, my face is really smooth and moisturized (which most masks do). Overall, it's a good product at an ok price. You can try different function masks and use the one that's more suitable on specific days. I would repurchase again and I did because it was on sale and buy 1 get 1 free too. =)

Fruttare Mixed Berries and Milk Popsicle

I love trying new things and I had a coupon so I decided to buy the Fruttare popsicles. The price was alright, $3.99 plus  $1 off for 4 popsicles. There were a few different flavours but I thought mixed berries was safer to try. The popsicle on the packaging looks really yummy and very fruity. The size of the popsicle is good, not too big, not too small. It said "made with real fruits" on the box, I don't really know but there were little blueberries on it. Not sure if there were other berry pieces (had it awhile ago). It does have a berry taste and kind of yogurt like because it has milk with fruits. Overall, it's pretty good and I would buy again. I want to try the coconut flavour next time.

imPress Press-on Manicure by Broadway

My imPress Manicure VoxBox came today. I received these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster.  I received two colours of the imPress press-on manicure by Broadway. The colours are 130 control freak (maroon, brownish) and 060 stiletto (fuchsia). The packaging is really nice. At first I thought it was nail polish because it's shaped like one, it's a cool design. Each imPress comes with 24 nails in 12 sizes. On the box it says it lasts up to a week and it's fast & easy.

I've never used these press on type of nails before so I'm taking some time to figure this out. There are a lot of different sizes and I have to match each one to my nail to see which fits. I have round tip nails and imPress are flat tip so I would have to file my nails to cover the white part. My nails are a bit longer than these imPress. I wish imPress were a bit longer, that way I don't have to file my nails down. No glue is needed, to stick them down, you just have to peel off the clear plastic. The imPress sides don't cover my nails completely but it's alright. I don't think people would look that closely at someone's nails. Also, some of the imPress have this tiny flat tip sticking out of the nail tip and I had to file it down or it will get caught onto my clothes or something. The whole process took me around half an hour (picking sizes and sticking it on), if people are experienced with this, it will probably take a shorter time.

After I finish putting the imPress on I found this prep pad behind this paper inside the packaging. The writing on the prep pad are in French but I guess you use it to clean your nails before sticking these on? Furthermore, I still have 14 imPress nails leftover and not sure what to do with them because I already used the ones that fit my nails. Overall, I think these imPress nails are pretty good. It's easy to put on and there aren't any of those nail polish smell. I'll have to see if they last for a week.

Update: May 12th, 2014
One of the nail actually fell off after shower... Good thing I got it back on by pressing onto it for awhile.

May 20th, 2014
The last imPress nail on my finger came off on the 16th, which was less than a week. I feel like the nails come off easily when I touch water. My hair always get caught between the nails when I brush through it.

Clorox Electronics Cleaning Wipes

I picked up two free samples of Clorox electronics cleaning wipes at London Drugs some time ago. I decided to use one of them today to clean my laptop. It comes with a wet wipe, a cloth, and a $2 off coupon. When I opened the wet wipe it was all dried up. I guess it’s been too long so I just wet it with water and used it. It cleans pretty well but not much of a difference compared to using a regular wet cloth to clean(maybe because it’s dried up?). The other cloth that came with it, it’s like those cloth that are used to clean glasses with. I like those, I usually use it to clean off the finger prints or dirty marks on my tablet. Overall, it’s a good product but I think I’ll stick with my regular wet cloth to save money.

Sorry, can't rotate it.

Coola Mineral Face Matte Finish Sunscreen

I haven’t written in a blog for a long time (and the blog disappeared) but I’m getting bored after bring sick and having to stay at home to recover.

I just received a package today that I purchased a week ago and it came with a free gift. The Coola mineral face matte finish sunscreen (spf 30). I thought this would be great to use on my trip in the summer. The packaging was alright, looks fresh. However, when I opened it to try, the consistency was very liquidly, almost like water. It also had this oily after look on my hand, doesn’t seem matte to me. Since the package say cucumber on it, I was expecting for the product to smell something like cucumber but it doesn’t. It has this weird smell like it expired or something. Then I went online to check other people’s reviews saying how it has this powdery finish, nothing about the smell or consistency… I guess I was just unlucky and got a bad tube? I won’t use it on my face but I think I’ll use it on my legs or something?
